Seismic event results at Harmony number two shaft

It is with deep regret that Harmony has confirmed a seismic event occurred at 10h05 this morning at Harmony 2 Shaft in the Free State 2300 metres underground.

Four miners were trapped in the after effects of the event. One was rescued and sustained injuries to his right ankle. The other three have been presumed dead and are in the process of recovering the bodies.

Harmony will undertake a full and complete investigation into what caused the seismic event and have stopped the operation until safety can be assured for its employees.
