Elandsrand Incident
Johannesburg. Friday, 23 November 2007. Harmony Gold Mining Company (Harmony) announced today that a fall of ground occurred on 100 level at its Elandsrand Mine.
One person was injured, with a suspected fractured leg, and he has subsequently been removed from the mine and taken to hospital. Mine Rescue teams are still searching for one miner. The remaining crew members (20) have been brought safely to surface with no further injuries.
Mine management are in the process of informing the relevant family members.
