Tuesday, 3 August 2010. Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited (“Harmony”) announces that Frank Abbott, executive director, has retired at the end of July 2010 after a long association with Harmony to pursue personal interests. Frank continued to serve on Harmony’s Board as an executive director responsible for strategic planning after he handed over his financial director responsibilities to Hannes Meyer on 1 November 2009. Frank has agreed to remain on Harmony’s Board of Directors as a non-executive director with effect from 1 August 2010. Harmony’s Chief Executive Officer, Graham Briggs says, “It certainly saddens us that Frank has retired after many years of making valuable contributions to Harmony. Frank has played a key role in the success of this company and we wish him well in his retirement. We are pleased however, that he will continue to add value to Harmony as a non-executive director”.
