Appointment of Non-Executive Directors
The board of Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Mavuso Msimang and Mr David Noko as Independent Non-Executive Directors, effective 26 March 2011.
Mr Msimang has 26 years’ experience in management at an executive level. He had been involved in the successful transformation and restructuring of various state-owned entities over the past 16 years. MrMsimang is the immediate past Director-General of the South African Department of Home Affairs and previously served successively as CEO of the State Information Technology Agency, South African National Parks, and SA Tourism. He was Country Representative of international development organizations World University Service/Canada and CARE-International in Ethiopia and Kenya, respectively. Mr Msimang also held senior management positions with UNICEF and the World Food Program.
Mr Noko is currently the managing director of Celacorp (Pty) Ltd. Mr Noko has vast experience in executive management having been Chief Executive Officer of Air Chefs (Pty) Ltd and later joining De Beers Consolidated Mines Limited where he was promoted to General Manager, Engineering and subsequently to General Manager at Kimberley Mines. He took over as Managing Director of De Beers Consolidated Mines Limited from Jonathan Oppenheimer in 2006. He was previously Vice President of the Chamber of Mines, South Africa, is a member of the Institute of Directors and currently serves on the boards of two other listed companies.
Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited’s Chief Executive Officer, Graham Briggs said, “Mr Msimang and Mr Noko will add a wealth of knowledge and experience to the board of directors and we are honored to welcome them to the Harmony team.”
