Update 2: Fire underground at Doornkop mine
Johannesburg: Wednesday, 5 February 2014: Further to the statements issued earlier today, Harmony advises that the eight employees who were brought to surface by rescue workers at around 10:30 today are all unharmed. They will be kept under medical observation tonight as a precautionary measure.
The company advises that rescue teams continue the search for the remaining nine miners who are still unaccounted for. The underground fire has been subdued, although conditions underground remain challenging.
All operations other than essential services have been suspended.
