During the year, Harmony launched several initiatives that resulted in significant potable water savings: Harmony also automated the in-stope waterjet cutting equipment at Kusasalethu and Tshepong to shut down when not in use, preventing water wastage and saving costs. To date, 80 waterjets have been converted and water consumption at these operations has reduced by 3.5Ml/day. The additional benefits of this initiative are evident in substantial pump-related cost savings of approximately R17 million in FY23. We are rolling out this initiative at Moab Khotsong where we expect to report results in FY24. Our water conservation initiatives, including the use of alternative water sources such as underground fissure water, contribute to our self-sufficiency, minimise water wastage, save costs and ultimately reduce our environmental impact. To this end, we continue to investigate additional initiatives.
